The Evergreen Point Floating connects Seattle, Washington (USA) to the Bellevue area across Lake Washington. Since opening in  1963, its 2,285 meters (7,497 ft) makes it the longest floating bridge in the world. The structure includes 33 prestressed concrete pontoons averaging 110 meters (360 ft) long and 18 meters (60 ft) wide.

 

 

For a great show, watch the retractable center drawspan in action. When it opens, the middle pontoons separate and roll undermeath the raised sections like drawers. For an even more spectacular show, look at Mt. Rainier, the North Cascades, the Olympic Mountains, and the skylines of Seattle and Bellevue from the bridge...maybe while someone else is driving. 

 

As the bridge was designed to carry 65,000 cars a day, but is now carrying 115,000  a day, and because of long term structural issues, a replacement is inevitable.
